I feel I would like to write to share with everyone what a great start I have had dealing with Collier Homes and in particular with Iain Ashcroft. From the moment I met Iain I knew his infectious smile and great sense of humour was going to be an extremely beneficial part of my journey of building with Collier. Right from the word go, Iain could not be more helpful - when I found the land I wanted, he arranged to view it so that we could discuss on site how I wanted the house to look. Even though it was a rather unusual shaped block, Iain took it as a challenge and came up with a very innovative design which made full use of the size and shape of the block. When designing the interior, he incorporated my ideas together with his own experience in design to come up with what will be a well functioning home. I am more than impressed with the care and attention I have received so far with my dealings with Collier through Iain. Personal attention in this day and age is often forsaken for time and money and Iain always manages to make me feel as though I am his only client, never rushing me but spending an enormous amount of patience helping me through decisions, and for that I am grateful. I now look forward to working with the Prestart team and can only say that if they have the same welcoming personality that Iain has, I will be a very happy customer!

We would like to share our thoughts on our experience with Collier Homes so far.

First of all we would like to say how pleased we are with the sales consultant Russel Driver. From the moment we walked into the display home and met Russel, he was very helpful and friendly. He went out of his way to make us happy with our plan. We made numerous changes and each time Russel was happy to change things for us until we got the plan just as we had wanted. It did not stop there, even after we had finalised the plans and moved onto Prestart, we were still able to rely on Russel on certain things we needed. Most sales consultants won't assist you anymore once you move onto Prestart, but he was more than happy to! Thank you very much Russel!

We would also like to mention Julia Parrot, our Pre-start administrator. During our Pre-start consultation, Julia was very professional. She would offer her opinion when we asked her for some assistance and was very efficient in the whole process. Thank you Julia.

So far we are awaiting to commence construction, exciting times ahead! Hoping it all goes smoothly, which we are quite sure it will!

Regards

Not very often you will you get an opportunity to meet a professional home building consultant who you can just trust and feel so comfortable with.

We recently migrated to WA and wanted to build our dream home as the cost of rent is just getting out of control. With 3 kids and a very busy life we just don’t have the time or the knowledge to figure out the whole building industry thing, finance, land, building etc..etc..

Our friends recently had their home built with Collier and referred Gary to us..

Within days, Gary found us land, a wonderful house design and got us connected with a finance broker.

Cant wait to get into our dream home!!

Thank you Gary and the wonderful team at Collier.

To those who are considering building with Collier Homes, We would like to tell you of my experience so far. After speaking to other builders in relation to our new house we were surprised with the lack of motivation for these companies to contact us and their inflexibility to meet with us. That was until we spoke to Iain from Collier Homes, besides from being a great guy, he was very enthusiastic to help and always met with us at a convenient time and location for us, that was great considering we both work full time.

Iain is very informative and has a great amount of knowledge with designing homes. His innovative ideas and advice made our dream home even better and everything was done in a timely manner. We got all the inclusions we wanted and more. Excellent value for money when you compare what you get with other designs from other builders.

So at this point we are extremely happy with Collier Homes and will recommend them to anyone who wants high quality service and great value. Thank you very much Iain your customer service is second to none and you are a great representative for Collier Homes.

Pre start Administrator Julia Parrott was very organised, gave many practical suggestions and could see she was experienced in offering workable options. She made the pre start progress a breeze and was patient with some changes here and there . Seems to know the questions before we ask them !

We are very pleased with having her in that session , made it relatively painless, thanks !

Dear Collier Homes

We would just like to say what a wonderful experience we have had choosing to build with Collier Homes. We met Vonda at your Shorehaven display in July and from the moment we met her she listened to what we wanted and designed with us our perfect custom home. She has been amazing to deal with and offered such a professional service with a very personal touch. She has had great vision whilst designing our house and understood our needs. We have come to love her and will miss her now the initial stage is almost over.

She is a great advocate for Collier homes and is passionate about her job and belief in Collier.

Many Thanks Vonda

After contacting several building companies and enquiring about building a house and the estimated costs involved, none were very helpful or seemed to want to assist, so when I spoke to Iain at Collier and received a totally different approach, I was very impressed.

Iain from the start, has spoilt us rotten with everything he has had to do for us, from designing our house, making many changes and dealing with my elderly parents! He has bent over backwards to ensure that we are happy with the end result without any major extra costs. We could not have asked for a more friendly, professional and helpful person and we certainly can highly recommend Iain.

We are so looking forward to our finished home as Iain has suggested so many things that we would not have thought of! Thanks Iain.

If anybody’s looking at building, I highly recommend you Contact Gary Gee at Collier Homes as you will not be disappoint with his service! He is professional, friendly, attention to detail and most importantly trust worthy. We have built with another builder before and the consultant basically didn't answer any of our calls after we signed up. Gary on the other hand kept us well serviced even after six months from sign up.
We bought an odd shape duplex block and visited countless builders and not one could solve our problem of 2 house designs that would suite.
Most building company’s consultants have not idea of home designs or costs as they are not person that does the actual work as they normally have to send it to their office to give them answers.
Collier Homes on the other hand has well trained professional Home Building Consultants who are designers who are very familiar with the local council and developer regulations
After having a nightmare of meeting countless builders who kept telling us no, we finally meet Gary at a Display and to our outer surprise a design was done within just one day with full costings well within our budget!!!
We would like to thanks Gary and the staff at Collier Homes for make it all possible for us!

The salesman was really helpful and really gave us the space to decide how we wanted our first home to look like. We originally went with the Stanford design but after much discussion with family and the expert advise from the salesman, we changed it to a once off design which we were very happy with. The prestart lady was really helpful and always kept us informed of what was happening with our shire approval, our prestart choices, etc. Our building supervisor got the job done. We did have a bad experience with his lack of communication, handover and some promises that took him a while to keep but the workmanship overall was good.

My wife and I meet with [name removed] from Collier homes to help us design our new home. We found him to be friendly honest and upfront with all the cost. There were no smoke and mirrors like alot of the other sales people try.

He helped us put together our dream house design on our small budget by taking out the extra things like floor and window coverings that builders will charge a Hugh mark up on. We saved heaps by doing them through private contractors. Once the building process started it only took 4 months to build. The quality was very good.

There were things that needed fixing after we moved in, but Colliers Building supervisor [name removed] was more than helpful to fix any problems we had so in the end we were left with a beautiful dream home.

This was my first house build and after hearing some horror stories from friends who had recently built with other companies, I must admit I was a little worried.
I walked into a display home and met with Iain with whom I immediately felt comfortable. After explaining to him I was having trouble finding a pre-designed house to fit my block, he asked a few questions, went away and designed me a home. I signed up immediately with minimal changes.
Within weeks, my existing house was demolished and the pad was laid. I received weekly phone calls from Barry, my Site Supervisor who most of the time answered my questions before they were asked.
Thanks guys, I love my Collier Home and after 6 months the pleasures continue.

Everthing they did was of a high standard.

Looking at building our third home took us over 2 years of searching for the right builder, after the first two homes we built we were trying to be very cautious to say the least due to the previous homes being substandard. In those 2 years of searching we got very tired of meeting inadequate and unskilled sales reps at display homes.

All that changed when we met Iain. This guy was amazing and we cant speak highly enough of him. He is the executive in-house consultant for Collier Homes. We had our own design and he provided further advise to us and did some alterations and we now have the perfect house for our requirements.

The final quotation we received was better than any other builder and saved us money for the extras we all want when building a home. The most important point in our new home was the kitchen, we now have a 7 meter stone kitchen bench top with waterfall ending and 16 soft closing draws which we would never have been able to purchase with any other builder (this was one of the extras)

Built in record time (under 6 months) and we have not had any issues at all. We never even met our first supervisor as the building was coming along very nicely there was no need, we only contacted the second supervisor [name removed] 2 weeks prior to handover to discuss progress and the handover date as it was getting close to Christmas.

We now have handover and could not be happier. The best Christmas present we could wish for.

Thank you [names removed] and all the staff whom we never got to meet who assisted in building our new home.

Merry Christmas to you all and we wish Collier Homes and all the staff a fantastic new year as you deserve it.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Gary and the Collier team for all thier work to date.

Gary is an astute professional who’s interaction with my wife and I, has been trademarked by his personal integrity and a genuine interest in helping us to build our dream home.

We provided a sketch of our dream home to Gary who promptly transformed it to a CAD drawing that we could work with. The costs were quite competitive and after some negotiation we agreed on a price and spec level that would simply blow the competition out of the water. The site costs in particular were very reasonable and transparent.

Gary and the Collier team are able to do things that other builders were unable, un-willing or too expensive for us to do.

Gary has diligently worked with us to solve potential site issues that other builders could not without huge expense.

Gary is very technically proficient and able to interpret and apply the various council and building regulations with minimal impact to our design concept.

If Gary says you will get a call on Monday – you will get a call on Monday – you can bank on it
Having built with other builders in the past and almost signing with another, for the first time my wife and I feel like a valued client who’s builder is working in our interest and not just another number to shake every cent from.

Sales consultant supreb, any problems we had he would try and sort straight away.
Trades are trades who ever you build with, at least our consultant cared and his help was priceless
Good experience. If you decide to build with anyone choose a sales consultant that you know will help you and not just ignore you once he or she's got your deposit. I delt with a consultant in Jindalee from Collier and he was not just helpfull but honest and straight down the line. We could tell from the moment we had our first appointment we would build with him.

We are really suprised by comments from other reviewers, we also had a Collier home built, this was a one off design taking in ideas from some areas of their display home designs. Being in the building trade as a trade contractor working for many builders and owner builders (not Collier Homes - I do not think the company I work for has a contract with them) The quality and detail in the finish of our home is by far much more impressive than the many jobs I attend. The whole process was smooth, the trades we ran into during our build were friendly and as I am in the trade engaged in conversation with them and they enjoy working for Collier Homes.
The shire seemed to restrict some aspects of the design, however we could not really blame the builder as they were only following the rules.
Overall we are very happy, we know there is a maintenance period (It may be referred to as a Defects Liability Period) where we are to list any items of concern and send the list to the Buider, we have been in for around six months however there is nothing we can find that required attention.

Overall, I am very happy with the result. I have been in my house for over 4 years now, and have had no maintenance issues at all. Very happy customer!!!!

Very flexible and well priced. The sales consultant was very helpful and had a lot of knowledge and advice about building that he passed on to us and treated our design as if it were his own. Most sales people in other builders we have dealt with in the past only relayed information from their office and didn't have much technical knowledge but the Collier consultant drew and priced all the changes for our house and was quick at getting back to us. The supervisor dealt with us personally and met us on site whenever we wanted to discuss concerns.
We unfortunately changed supervisor half way through the build and there were some delays with the brick layers who were very slow, though they did a great job in the end.
This was the second home we have built so we had learned a lot from our first experience. We chose Collier Homes because we had a specific house in mind that we wanted. Most builders were quoting much higher prices to provide an individual home but Collier advertised that it was their specialty. Their standard range was excellent and we got lots of things that weren't standard elsewhere. I don't think I could ever build a standard plan again after getting exactly what we wanted and for the same price as going off the plan. We didn't go into the decision to build thinking it would be hassle free and we certainly had our trials, but Collier built us a beautiful house.

The saleswoman was A1. She drew our plan overnight as we had gotten close to signing with another builder. This was surprising as we waited almost 5 and a half weeks to get a plan and costing back form the other builder. We didn't even want to start anything again because our enthusiasm was lacking at the long wait. However she was able answer some questions that the other rep couldn't and we soon thought it was worth a shot. She came up with a one off on their delux spec and the price was good enough for us.
When we couldn't answers from there we just contacted our sales rep and she got us the answers virtually straight away, she even informed us when our slab was booked in for
Aside from pre start which my wife was really looking forward to and a 2 week wait on the brickies starting after the slab was poured the house moved on at a good pace and we got in exactly when the rep said we would, 11 months from signing ppa to handover. She actually told us to allow a year were other builders were telling us 6 months. We didn't realise that was for construction only. Our toilet roll holder did fall off and some of the paving did need fixing up.

Our whole dealing with Collier has been very, very good. We designed a custom home from the ground up and our Building Consultant worked with us for about 4 months getting the design right, and this was all before we signed anything. On signing the contract the council approvals were handled well and our Pre-Start Administrator worked endlessly to respond to all our change and pricing requests, and trust me, we had about 100.. The whole process was faultless and everyone we dealt with, from the Receptionist, to the Building Consultant, to our Pre-Start Rep, were all very very helpful and completed all that was asked of them. We are now in building phase with our roof tiles about to go on and the high level of service has continued. It is very rare with project builders to get your supervisor's phone number, and e-mail, but with Collier you do, and they are in touch every week to discuss how it is progressing. I have watched the house very closely, and yes, there has been a few issues, but any problem I raised to the attention of the supervisor was dealt with immediately, along with any requests that i've had as well. As an example, I just e-mailed him then (at 7.10PM) requesting something and he responded in about 20 mins.
Our house is about to have the tiles put on and its only been 2 months from slab down. There has been issues with some of the work, but it was resolved immmediately.

I can only think the negative comments on this site are from when owners either expect them to answer questions that really they should be answering for themselves, or they nagg, be rude and annoy the builder to the point where the builder can't stand dealing with them anymore.. Building is a long process that requires energy and attention from all parties. Small things are going to go wrong.
Overall Collier Homes have been a great partner in building our new home, the team have been helpful, the building quality is above acceptable, and they have been focused on providing us with a high-level of service.

Project builders are always going to have problems, building a house is a big thing...and like any project, issues arise, and while for us there has been minimal, they have handled them all 100%. I've heard many a horror story for almost all the builders but i know from hearing personal statements from friends and family that haave built with other builders that how Collier are handling our building process is far better than they experienced.

I would definitely recommend Collier Homes, and would build with them again, and our house is shaping up to be a quality home built exactly how we wanted it.

The sales consultant was an ex builder. He only took 24 hours to come back to me with the cost of bulding my house (one off design) with lower cost compared to other builders (other builders took days...)The prestart lady was helpful and always replied to my request promptly (good attention to detail too). I was even given the supervisor'r e mail and mobile. The supervisor kept me up to date with the building progress and always responsed to my enqueries within a day by mail.
Unable to make changes after the prestart. The choice of material at the office showroom was limited during the prestart(small office, I guess) They have moved to a larger office since.
This is the second time I build my own home, I decided to use Collier home this time as they have been around a lot longer than most other so called "repetative" builders. I signed my contract back in March, prestart was arranged in May and finally, the building was commenced end of July. The house was at lock up stage last week (took only 5 months)Apart from few minor defects which I was told will be attended to before the hand over, the whole building process has been very smooth with very little delay. So far, my experience with Collier staff has been excellent with nothing to complain about.

Firstly we would like to thank you for your help and understanding over the last couple of months, especially with the difficulties we had with our neighbours regarding fencing. We appreciate your patience and look forward to the building that can now begin.
We would also like to recognise Gail. She has gone out of her way to help us secure approval from the neighbouring blocks to allow the fencing and retaining walls to be built. Without her help, dedication and determinedness, we would not be in the position we are now. She kept us fully informed of the progress and provided advice on our next move forward. Gail is a great asset to the Collier business.
We look Forward to building and completing these two rental properties with Collier

Pros: They Listen and pay attention to detail!
Cons: As someone else said on this forum, once the contract is signed - that's it - no more changes. Having said that, they were quite ok to give me their supplier details and I could approach their suppliers direct to make ammendments etc (had to pay extra ofcourse) - however, the fact you can't make changes after the fact is a little restrictive.
Overall: I'm in the process of building with Collier now and I have been reviewing them on this forum since the building process commenced back in 2010.

Much to my surprise, I've been very happy with them - Collier Homes have been very accommodating and the staff are very capable. Yes there have been some building flaws and although most have been rectified there is the possibility that some flaws may remain (although having said that, these wouldn't be visible to most people) - although I am hopeful EVERYTHING will be addressed to my satisfaction prior to handover.

The tradies used are mostly competent (the plasterers and renderes are fantastic!) - brickwork could have been better, but structuraly it's ok and any defects covered by the render (not sure how it works if there is no render).

All in all, I've been extremely happy with them - I've built with Dale Alcock before and Collier Homes are head and shoulders above them. The secret is to go in expecting that they are not a Boutique builder with a million dollar price tag... they are a project home builder and are priced accordingly.

My home is now at lockup and although it's possible that I may have a different opinion of them once all the finer details start being installed (kitchen, tiling etc etc) so far I have nothing but praise.

Our consultant was fantastic, I had scribbled down an extremely ruff house plan that I liked, this was used and created into my dream home with 48 hours, and not having to pay extra for a having my own design was a plus also. The attention to detail was great, having not built a house before the consultant had alot of suggestions which I do not think of that were very practical. The time to go to construction was very frustrating, although it was not the builders fault and due to the shires requirements to have to go through planning, shire and get neighbours approval made the process quite long.
We have now handed over and our home is prefect, I couldnt of dreamed for anything more, extremely happy client who will be recommending Collier Homes to family and friends.

Pros: Freindly and very efficient sales person and also our pre start lady was very helpful. Collier have also tried to help speed up the process after out problems with the other builder.

Overall: Our site works have just started this week so we are getting a bit excited. It has been a long time since either my Wife or I have built. We had a problem with another builder but decided to change to Colliers because it took the other builder 20 weeks to get our drawings to us. Pre start did take us a long time (about 5 hours) We were reasonably happy with the process but a bit dissapointed with their selections. We were told that there would not be any changes after pre start but we did get a change after talking to the General Manager. At the last minute, after pre start, we changed our kitchen sinks and the en suite shower.

Pros: Honest, reliable & friendly service
Cons: Awaiting council approval & not being aware of the need for a verge permit
Overall: We had been looking for a builder that would support us from beginning to end without the limp fish hand shake and empty promises. When you walk into the Collier Homes office in Osborne Park, from the décor in the waiting area you get a sense of a streamline and well organised business. From our first contact at the reception desk, we knew this company was for us. We were planning a subdivision with two 4x2 units and the attention to detail and the knowledge base of the sales staff was invaluable. We had a fully detailed quote within 48 hours just like their ad stated on the radio. Our slabs were layed the week before the Xmas break and our building supervisor scheduled all sub contactors one after another ensuring there was very little down time at any stage in the building process. Our 2 houses are now at lock-up stage. Every week without fail we receive an SMS update on what work is being done at the house. And when we had a query about the roof colour the building supervisor investigated and responded within 24 hours

In 2010, Stormview Investments acquired property in the Byford region to build land and house packages. After an exhaustive 3 month process in identifying a suitable builder and sales consultant that we wanted to engage in to build our properties, there was only one consultant that simply outshone the rest; Gail, from Collier Homes.
Since our first meeting with Gail, she has provided us with exceptional client service over and above any other consultant that we have previously dealt with. Whilst she provided exception client service in the initial sales process to sign Stormview Investments as a Collier client, she has continued to provide us with post sales service beyond our expectations.
When the majority of sales consultants would sign the deal and move on, Gail has provided the group with highly proactive pre and post sales service. She has always ensured that the expectations set have been met. If we have raised any concerns, which have been very limited, she has immediately seeked to support us on resolving any minor issues.
She is a credit to Collier Homes and a highly passionate individual who lives and breathes client service and satisfaction. We certainly look forward to building on our investment portfolio in the residential market and look to do so with Gail.
We would recommend her to any prospective purchaser.

The build with Collier has been a delightful experience, full of wonderful people who clearly enjoy their jobs and who are happy to go that extra mile to ensure that their clients have everything they require.
They have been able to design our house better than we could have ever dreamed and build it for a price we could afford. Through every step we have been guided through to make sure we always knew what was going on and we still cannot believe that we have got this far and still no catch has appeared. The journey has not been without its bumps, but they have been relatively minor and easily smoothed out and I do not think that there would ever be a house built without bumps in the road.

This email is just an opportunity for Laurine and myself to express our thanks to Melissa for the professional service she provided at our recent colour interview. As you probably know the colour interview is one of the most important parts of building a new home, and in our case it was a very nerve racking time leading up to it.
However, our nerves and fears were put to ease by the professional manner in which Melissa conducted the interview.
I never expected it to go as smoothly as it did, please extend our thanks to Melissa for all the patience and assistance she gave us on the day.
I should also mentioned that this whole process started with Dorian and Gail and I'm sure I don’t have to outline our experience in working with them.
I would very much appreciate if you could thank all of them on our behalf.

I am the first to bring things to their attention if things don't look right or aren't how I expect them to be. However, I also believe in giving credit where credit is due. The brickwork is now finished and I can't speak highly enough of the team who completed this task in only 11 working days. The tradesman is an absolute professional. Very helpful in explaining to me what he was doing and why he was doing it. There were a few issues along the way which, after consulting with John and myself, he quickly rectified. The site was left clean after every day and spotless on completion.

Can I also add, that even though their initial roles have now completed and I am dealing with John Francis, both Leah and Gary have been very helpful in putting my mind at ease along the way. For a first time home builder, I believe that this is of utmost importance.

We are writing to compliment you on the wonderful men you have working for you doing the roofing on our house. They absolutely stunned us when they turned up in between the rain last week and quickly went to work. They not only worked their little butts off but they were also very clean, never leaving any rubbish lying around and they always ensured that the gate was closed behind them (they are the only ones who have done this so far). They had respect for our block, our lives and our neighbours. Andrew spoke to them today and has said how much we admired the work they did, but we thought we should let you know too.

Thanks for your time

Pros: Collier Homes is a professional all rounder company & I would recommend them to anyone.
Cons: Awaiting council approval.
Overall: It took us a while to find an inner suburb block however the friendly Collier sales person became like family. He was more than happy to give us feedback on each property we reviewed. He made sure we had support & new ideas /designs for each block we were considering. We felt comfortable contacting him with the silliest questions and confident in his knowledge and experience. We are absolutely thrilled that we selected Collier as our house has gone up like clock work. Everything is well organised and it is mind blowing to think that our slab only went down in mid December and yet our house is already at lock up stage. Go Collier!!

Pros: Design Consultant, Prestart Lady and Supervisor really professional. And make our building experience an enjoyable one.
Cons: Problems with the tiler and delay with tiles, but I'm sure the delay is not Collier's fault.
Overall: Brilliant company and would recommend them to everyone.

I went to Collier with my own design and was given a quote and drawings from our consultant within a couple of days. We signed with another builder but decided to change to Collier as we were extremely unhappy with their progress and customer service.
Prestart lady was very helpful and really friendly to deal with.
Our supervisor is excellant, really helpful and always keeping me up to speed with the progress. Answers my questions within a couple of days.
Speed of building has been brilliant. Our slap was laid just before Christmas and i'm sure we'll be moving into the house in the next month.

Pros: Excellent company to build with.

Overall: I have now built three house's with Collier Homes, all of which have turned out to be excellent homes. the consultant spent a great deal of time with us, until we had the design exactly as we wanted. he was the only sales rep that bothered to view the block prior to presenting us with a floor plan. everything was documented on the preparation of plans agreement, so we knew exactly what we were getting. remember to do all the changes prior to signing the building contract as they won't let you change the plans. it makes sense really as I wanted my plans sent off to the shire as soon as possible, & not returned to make a design change.

the pre-start lady couldn't do enough for us, she called us every week as promissed by the sales rep, if only to inform us of our progress in the shire.
the site supervisor was very attentive & called most weeks to keep us up speed with our new home. the quality was execellent & the finish product is something to be proud of.
I've read many of the reviews on many sites, & it apprears to me that all builders make mistakes from time to time. I don't beleive that Collier Homes are a bad builder by any means. I think because people can write anything they want on a review site they can blow things out of preportion. I would highly recomend anyone to build with Collier Homes, don't be miss lead by over zealous faceless people.
